File Formats that Supported in Works

Below is a procedure for opening a document with a specific format in Works.  

  1. Go to the file menu and click open. If you are using Works 7.0 calendar module, you should click import.  
  2. Select the format you want to open your document with in the Files of Type box.
  3. Search for the file you want to open, highlight it, and then click open.

When you want to save the file in a specific format in Works 7.0, here are the steps you need to follow.  

  1. Go to the file menu and click “save as”. If you are using Works 7.0 calendar module, you need to click import.
  2. Select your preferred format in the Save as type box.
  3. Include a name for your file in the File name box and click “save”.  

The following are file formats that you can open in Works 7.0

  1. Microsoft Works word processor-Some of the file formats recognized in this file format include Works documents, works templates, rich text format, text files, HTML documents with .html, .htx and .otm and so forth.
  2. Files in these formats can be saved as Works documents, Works templates, Rich text Format among others.  
  3. Microsoft Works 7.0 spreadsheet- Works 7.0 spreadsheet module is capable of opening these file formats: Works SS, Backup files, Excel SS, Text and so forth. These files can be saved as Works 7.0, Works 4.x/2000, Works for Windows 3.0 SS among others.
  4. Microsoft Works Database- You can open Works DB, Backup files, TEXT and dBase files among other files using Works 7.0 database module. These files can then be stored as Works DB, Works for Windows 3.0 DB, Works for Windows 2.0/Works for DOS, Text & Commas among other files using Works 7.0 database module.
  5. Microsoft Works Calendar- vCal Format and ALL Files formats can be saved using Works 7.0 calendar module. These files are saved as vCalendar, HTML and Tab Delimited.
